Freephone numbers remove barriers for adult community mental health clients

Published Wednesday 14 Oct 2020

Adult community mental health and addiction clients across Wellington, Hutt Valley and Wairarapa can now use a Freephone number to contact their treating team.

The new numbers remove cost barriers and provide clients with another way of contacting their treating team directly.

“We know that cost can sometimes be a barrier for people when getting in touch with their community mental health and addiction team”, says general manager Nigel Fairley.

“Ensuring that clients have free and easy access to a Freephone number, increases outcomes for people and helps them stay connected with their treating team. We know that connectedness improves overall wellbeing and has a positive impact on treatment and care”.

The numbers have been rolled out across nine community adult mental health and addiction teams in Wairarapa, Hutt Valley, Porirua, Wellington and Kapiti—and includes Health Pasifika and Te Whare Maire.

A full list of contact numbers is available on the MHAIDS website.
