DHB reaches settlement with complainant

Published Friday 6 Apr 2018

Capital & Coast DHB has reached a settlement with complainant Lyn Copland that is satisfactory to both parties.

The DHB deeply regrets that Lyn Copland’s son, Sam Fischer, died in its care.

The DHB acknowledges that the loss of a family member in these circumstances is traumatic. Sam was well liked by the staff who knew and cared for him, and they have all felt his loss.

The key recommendations from the serious adverse event review have been actioned.

The DHB has nothing further to add to this statement.
